There are 10 basic principles of good design; CONTRAST, EMPHASIS, PROXIMITY/ ALIGNMENT, BALANCE, HIERARCHY, SCALE, HARMONY/UNITY, PATTERN, REPETITION, & RHYTHM/MOVEMENT. For this week’s journal #17, google examples of REPETITION as a principle of design, and upload a picture of an example of REPETITION to your Journal #17 describing how it is used as a principle of good design.

Repetition is using a symbol or element repeatedly throughout your art. Repetition gives the feeling of unity throughout the design. Using pattern and repetition together make an ultimate design that helps guide the viewer through out the whole design. Just like pattern, repetition does not have a focal point which corresponds to the guiding throughout the design.
